Removing the Colon: Surgical Options and Opportunities

Surgical removal of the colon isn't anyone's first choice for treating inflammatory bowel disease. In some cases, though, it can be the best option. With the bowel gone, another route is needed for eliminating solid waste, and this article discusses the two main alternatives in frank and reassuring terms.
